How does it work?
What goes inside Blue Bags?
Make sure that only glass, metal, and plastic containers that carry an OR-10 refund value are placed inside the Blue Bags. There should not be trash or other recyclable materials not included in Oregon’s Bottle Bill.
Where can I find BottleDrop Blue Bags?
BottleDrop Blue Bags can be picked up at Hunger Fighters by coming in during our open hours - Monday 4-6pm, Wednesday 5-7pm, and Fridays 10am-1pm, or emailing [email protected] to schedule an appointment. We also have some bags ready for pickup at any time on top of our donation bin!
Where can I drop off my full BottleDrop Blue Bags?
Once you’ve filled your BottleDrop Blue Bags at home, simply drop them off at any Bottledrop redemption location. You can drop off up to 15 Blue Bags per location, per day. If you have more than 15 Blue Bags, email [email protected] for help coordinating a drop-off.
Can I drop off my Blue Bags at Hunger Fighters?
Due to food safety concerns, we kindly request that you do not return full bags to the pantry directly.
How do I know my containers are benefitting Hunger Fighters?
Each Blue Bag we give out has a barcode label affixed to it. After your bags are dropped off at a BottleDrop redemption location, the label is scanned and funds are credited directly into Hunger Fighters’ BottleDrop account.

What is BottleDrop Give?
Through the BottleDrop Give program, community members can support nonprofits by donating their beverage containers with an Oregon refund value. There are two ways to give through this program:
- by donating all or a portion of your BottleDrop account balance to a participating nonprofit, like Hunger Fighters Oregon or
- by filling BottleDrop Blue Bags with empty containers and dropping them off at any BottleDrop redemption location.
How does it work?
- Pick up a Blue Bag from Hunger Fighters, either during our open hours or by appointment.
- Load the Blue Bag with recyclable bottles and cans at home.
- When the Blue Bag is full, drop it off at a BottleDrop redemption location.
- Please note that full Blue Bags cannot be left at the pantry. They must be brought to a Bottledrop redemption location.
- Bottledrop (or grocery store staff members, depending on where you go) will scan the QR code on the outside of the Blue Bag when it’s received and proceeds will automatically go towards Hunger Fighters!

How to Return a BottleDrop Blue Bag
- Make sure every bag has a QR code sticker for Hunger Fighters on it.
- Only fill Blue Bags with OR-10 beverage containers.
- Find a bag drop door.
- Visit the Location Finder to find a bag drop door near you. Most bag drop doors look similar and have a BottleDrop logo on them. There are bag drop doors at all BottleDrop Redemption Centers, as well as many retailers (such as Fred Meyer’s and New Seasons)
- Scan the bag tag sticker to open the bag drop door.
- Be sure to scan at least one bag tag sticker when dropping your Blue Bags. This not only opens the bag drop door, but it also provides a record of the drop to better track the bags.
- Scan the QR code by holding it about 6 inches away from the scanner. When a scan is successful, the red light outside the door will turn green and the door will unlock. If the scan is not successful, try holding the tag further away and moving it closer to the scanner slowly at a slightly tilted angle. Each tag has a 30-minute active time limit from the first time it is scanned.
- Place up to 15 Blue Bags inside.
- When the drop door unlocks, open it, place your bag(s)
