2025 Hunger Fighters Pantry Updates and Reminders Stay Up to Date with Pantry News
Now that 2025 is well underway, we wanted to take a moment to reach out to you, our pantry guests, to share a couple of reminders, updates, and news!

A lot has changed over the past few years, so we wanted to make sure to remind those of you who've been visiting for awhile as well as make sure our newer guests have all the information they need when visiting the pantry!

We'd love to hear your thoughts and get input on how we're doing. If you have anything you'd like to share with the staff, follow this link to leave a comment or note.

Oregon is a Sanctuary State

We want all of our guests to feel comfortable and welcome in our pantry. We will uphold all laws and policies outlined in the Sanctuary Promise as required by the State of Oregon.

Read the statement about Oregon's Sanctuary Promise below. You can find more on the Oregon Department of Justice website.

"Oregon's sanctuary status means that state and local government, including police, cannot help enforce federal immigration laws without an order signed by a judge.

In Oregon, our laws state that everyone can live, work, play, go to school, report a crime to police, go to court, and access government services without fear that a state or local government employee will report you to ICE. If you suspect a violation of these laws, you can report to the Sanctuary Promise Hotline.

However, federal immigration authorities like ICE can and do operate in Oregon. Oregon's sanctuary laws do not stop deportations or federal prosecutions for immigration-related crimes in Oregon."

For additional help, head to the Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization.

Reminder: Pantry Rules & Guidelines

In order to provide a comfortable and equitable pantry experience for all, we have a number of rules and policies in place. Most of the time, our pantry guests do a great job following our guidelines, however, it's always good to reiterate them. Please understand that while some of our guidelines may feel inconvenient or unnecessary, they are in place for your benefit. Always feel free to reach out to a staff member or volunteer and refrain from confrontations with other guests if you notice issues with guests following our guidelines,

Line Rules:
  • The pantry is open to guests on a first-come, first-served basis during our open hours
  • Guests are allowed to arrive early and place a shopping bag down to hold their spot in line. However, you must remain on the property (in your car in the parking lot is ok!) if you are using a bag to hold your spot. If you leave the parking lot, you will be moved to the back of the line. Please remain onsite or near the pantry once you’ve put down your bags.
  • Please respect other guests' spot in line and do not move or touch their bags/belongings.
  • Do not hold a spot in line for other guests.
Pantry Etiquette:
  • Children should be accompanied/supervised by an adult at all times. Please do not allow children to run/play in aisles.
  • While shopping in the pantry:
    • Check with fellow shoppers before you pass them in the aisles.
    • Please take note of the maximums allowed for various items. Maximums change based on availability and differ based on family size.
    • Please be considerate of the amount of time you are taking so that we can make sure to get everyone through the pantry in a timely fashion.
Lastly, don't forget to bring your reusable bags!

Pantry Updates: What's On our Shelves

To make sure all of our guests are getting the food and hygiene items they need, we will be focusing our purchasing and procurement efforts on making sure the following items are regularly stocked in the pantry. These are the items you can expect to see on our shelves every time you visit!

As always, we will try to stock additional food and hygiene products, but we cannot guarantee that we will always have these items or that there will be enough for everyone. We will do our best to set our limits to make sure the most people are able to access these specialty items.

Check out the Volunteer page on our website or email [email protected] to learn about open volunteer opportunities. We love getting to know our pantry guests through volunteering and this is a great way to give back to the community.
