Current Volunteer needs:
- Cleaning crew(s): We know, cleaning doesn't sound very fun, but it can be—especially if you have a fun team and turn some music on. We're looking for a few groups of 2-3 people who can tag team the pantry and get it ready for shop on a weekly basis. Duties include sweeping, moping, cleaning the fridges and freezers, taking out the trash, breaking down boxes, etc. It takes about an hour for a group to get through the task list. This would be great for small family, a group of friends, or a few individuals who work well with others!
- Gleaner: We are fortunate to get a good amount of food from the Gleaners of Clackamas County, but we need someone who can pick those items up and put them away at the pantry each week. This person would need access to a larger sized car and the ability to lift (up to 50lbs), bend, and twist. This is a great way to get a better understanding of the inner workings of the pantry!
Volunteer Opportunities
Our regular volunteer shifts include:
- Shop Volunteers: Shop volunteers help during guest shopping time. This includes checking guests in, helping guests as they navigate the pantry, and restocking shelves. Bi/multi-lingual volunteers are always needed.
- Gleaners: Our gleaning volunteers visit local grocery stores to rescue food that the stores can no longer sell...but is still good to eat! Gleaners work independently, driving to and from the grocery store(s) and then stocking the rescued food items at the pantry.
- Pantry Prep: Help us sort, stock, and clean the pantry! This is a great opportunity for groups and families.
- Food Drives: If you are looking for a group opportunity that allows you to get a good understanding of how the pantry operates, consider hosting a food drive or helping with food drive intake. Click here to learn about hosting a food drive.
- Delivery Drivers: Our delivery drivers pick up and delivery food orders for a small group of homebound individuals.
- Delivery Packing: Help pack up food and supplies for our homebound guests! This is an independent job that allows you to “shop” the pantry for our guests that can’t shop themselves, making sure they get the food they need!
- Cleaning crew: Help keep the pantry shiny and clean! We are looking for a regular crew of 2-4 people to rotate deep cleaning shifts each week. This a great way to stay connected to the pantry and make sure our guests are comfortable and safe!
- Large Group Opportunities (12 max): Along with pantry prep and hosting a food drive, every so often, there are other opportunities open for large groups to volunteer, please email us and let us know that you're interested.
