Executive Director
Simone Coker-Kamna
Simone Coker-Kamna has spent the last 15+ years working in Portland’s nonprofit community and comes to Hunger Fighters Oregon after working at Northwest Academy, a small private school in downtown Portland. It was while working as the Community Engagement Director at Northwest Academy that her interest in community-based service work was reignited. Simone was responsible for working with students on their annual community service projects, connecting them with organizations that served Portland's most vulnerable communities, including the unhoused, those facing food insecurity, and LGBTQIA+ youth.
Her strong passion for helping others connect with services and opportunities is what led Simone to Hunger Fighters Oregon and she is looking forward to using her skill set and knowledge of Oregon's nonprofit sector to benefit HFO.
Simone received her B.F.A. in Studio Art From Michigan State University and her M.A. in Arts Administration from the University of Oregon, she is currently the board treasurer of Young Musicians and Artists.
Outside of work, Simone paddles outrigger canoes and is an assistant coach on a local club team. She is an avid gardener and flower enthusiast, a huge fan of the Olympic games, enjoys reading sci-fi, fantasy, and mystery novels, and traveling with her family.
