Becoming a Volunteer with HFO
After you've emailed us, our Pantry Manager will follow up with you to find out more about how you'd like to volunteer. Once a volunteer role has been determined, you will get the appropriate training, learn more about our volunteer policies and procedures, and set a time and date for your first shift! After that, you'll be added to our Volunteer List and given access to our volunteer calendar where you can sign up for additional volunteer opportunities.

Volunteer Opportunities
Our regular volunteer shifts include:
- Shop-In: Shop volunteers help during guest shopping time. This includes checking guests in, helping guests as they navigate the pantry, and restocking shelves. Bi/multi-lingual volunteers are always needed!
- Pantry Prep: Help us sort, stock, and clean the pantry! This is a great opportunity for groups and families.
- Food Drives: If you are looking for a group opportunity that allows you to get a good understanding of how the pantry operates, consider hosting a food drive or helping with a food drive intake. Read below to learn about hosting a food drive.
- Gleaning: Our gleaning slots are currently full. Our gleaning volunteers visit local grocery stores to rescue food that the stores can no longer sell.
- Delivery Driving: Our delivery slots are currently full. Our delivery drivers pick up and delivery food orders for a small group of home-bound individuals.
- Large Group Opportunities (12 max): Along with pantry prep and hosting a food drive, every so often, there are other opportunities open for large groups to volunteer, please email us and let us know that you're interested.
Already a volunteer? Head to our Volunteer Portal to sign up for volunteer shifts. The portal is password protected, please email [email protected] for the password.
In the past year, Hungers Fighters has seen a 184% increase in the demand for our services.
This means we need more inventory to keep up!

Please email Marlea Goulet if you are interested in organizing a food drive on our behalf or have questions about the pantry's current needs. Thank you!
Helpful tips for a successful food drive:
- A food drive that focuses on a few specific high-need items eliminates the guesswork and makes it easy for your donors to pitch in. It's also extremely helpful to us to receive larger quantities of a few high-need items vs a little of everything.
- Gently remind your donors to donate only non-expired and unopened/unused items.
- Hunger Fighters has collection bins you can borrow, and we love to make fun, branded flyers to help promote your food drive. Give us a holler, we'd love to help!
- If possible, please notify us of your food drive so we can support your efforts and share ideas of most needed item, please email Marlea for additional information.
